Randomness

Often throughout the day, I think of things I would love to blog about. Stuff that's hilarious, sweet, sad, or thought-provoking. But when I actually have time to sit and blog at the end of the day, my brain is baby-fried and I just want to sleep. I'll try not to drool on the computer as I post my random thoughts from today.

  • Watched a video of the kids my hubby narrated in which he casually mentions that it is August 2005. Just slightly off. Made me giggle.
  • Listened to Sophie tell me a 5 minute story about something that happened to Dora. Understood that she was talking about Dora. And that's about all.
  • Made a mile-long list of things to do when the kids went to bed tonight. Did about a quarter of the list and now goofing off online.
  • Miss cooking for fun. Watched a few episodes of Giada and Ina this week (loving our new DVR) and feel inspired, but time-challenged.
  • Impressed with Audrey's strength. She is leaning over to one side when laid on her back. I bet she'll flip over early. Really surprised because we are not doing half as much tummy-time with her as we did with Sophie. Sorry second baby!
  • Thankful Sophie had fewer tantrums today. This past week has been rough seeing as how she learned a new 'skill'. Today, we only had about 4 hissy-fits. And they were somewhat mild. Maybe she's learning that I don't like them very much. At one point, she had calmed down so I walked in the room to get her to come to dinner and at the mere sight of me, she flung herself on the floor and started screaming and kicking. Almost giggled it was so orchestrated!

That's about all I can muster up the energy to write. Off to bed!

Cause and effect

I've discovered that sometimes, it's so hard not to laugh at your children. Yesterday, Sophie was pushing the baby swing back and forth and then leaned her head down toward it as it started swinging back towards her and WHAM - right in the face! I nearly lost it but she was upset, so I couldn't laugh (until much later with Benoit). Then today, she was asking for juice, which we mix with water. Apparently I was not quick enough and my impatient child walked to the fridge and hit the water button in the door and SPLAT - right in the face! Again, nearly cracked up but she was upset and I had to hold back my giggles. Is she clumsy or just discovering cause and effect, I'm not sure. But she sure knows how to make her mommy laugh!

We had a fabulous little playdate last week, super girly! Tutu's and tea with the other little ladies in our playgroup. Here are some cute pics and video.

Sunshine in a Smile

A smile is a beautiful thing, especially when it's given to you by someone you love. My sweet baby Audrey has recently developed her own unique grin, which is usually followed by a sweet coo. My heart melts each time and I impatiently wait for the next one. Here are a few of Audrey's first smiles caught on camera. Enjoy!

Sisterly Love

I'm having a ball watching Sophie and Audrey together! This weekend, Benoit put Audrey in Sophie's crib for a minute and Sophie begged to get in with her. Sophie was so excited about having Audrey in her bed! Just the novelty of it was fun for her. She kept hugging Audrey and practically laying on top of her! We had to remind her to be gentle, but she was loving it! Audrey seemed to be entertained by Sophie and didn't mind her laying on top of her. She might just be a very patient child. Here are some cute pics from the afternoon. :)
We encouraged Sophie to lay down beside Audrey instead of on top of her.

EIEIO

Sophie has been singing Old MacDonald with me, or at least the 'eieio' part so it was appropriate that we go to a local farm today with our friends to check out some animals. We saw small animals first like a lizard, hedgehog, bunny, ferret, bird, tortoise, etc. Sophie was not interested in the small animals at all! I'm not sure if she was really afraid or just not interested. She kept pointing at the cats and dogs that were loose in the barn. Then we went outside to check out the larger animals and she LOVED it! There were pigs, which she kept grunting at and pointing and announcing 'pig!' to make sure I saw them. She liked the goats and wanted to feed them bread, but all their loud grunting made her a little nervous to get too close. Then there was the horse and pony, which Sophie really loved. She kept saying 'pony! pony!' and I could hardly get her to leave. She even petted the big horse, which surprised me. :) Brave and curious little girl.... Here are a few pics.
