Audrey's Baptism Video

I have finally had the time to edit and upload Audrey's baptism video for our families to view. It was a sweet ceremony and we are so thankful Tim and Caroline could be here with us. I hope you all enjoy seeing our little girl being baptized!

Feelin Crafty

I've been getting crafty lately and having fun with it. Below are a few new crafts I've tried my hand at. Let me know what you think!

Babylegs leg warmers for Sophie and Audrey. I got this idea from http://littlebirdiesnest.blogspot.com/2009/03/easter-legs-another-baby-legs-tutorial.html. Sophie is modeling a pair here, which don't match her outfit. Around the house, we wear all sorts of weird things.
An offering bag for Sophie to take to school for chapel days. I had an old drawstring bag and I just added some cute beads to dress it up!

My kitchen menu board which keeps me organized each week. I got the idea from http://www.makeandtakes.com/wipe-off-weekly-menu-board. It's just a pretty frame with scrapbooking stickers on the glass. I use a dry erase marker to write in my weekly menu and added a pretty paper to dress it up. Also, notice the beautiful 'abstract' by Sophie.

That's it for my crafty side this week!

Audrey's Naming Day

Today was Audrey's baptism and we are so blessed to share the day with her godparents, Caroline and Tim. Audrey wore the christening gown that her great-grandmother had made for Sophie, which is a sweet sisterly connection. She wore a pair of white, knit booties that were Benoit's when he was a little boy. Her godparents gave her a beautiful bracelet to celebrate the day, which she wore around her ankle since it was too big for her arm today. And of course, she wore a fabulous bow made by yours truly.

During the church service, Sophie quietly sat with us and studiously watched the activity around her. She was intrigued by the service, especially the organ music and the choir. When we went to the front for the baptism, the preacher invited us and the godparents to lay our hands on Audrey during the sprinkling of water and a baptismal prayer. When he sprinkled water on Audrey's head, she started to cry a little and then so did Sophie. I'm not sure she liked the idea of someone she didn't know well making her little sister cry. So sweet! Then afterwards, the congregation sang Jesus Loves Me as we took our seats. It was a simple and tender ceremony. We are blessed to have a healthy, happy daughter to christen today!

Benoit and me with Audrey after the baptism.
Godparents Tim and Caroline Brooks (Benoit's sister and her husband) with Audrey.
The whole gang (minus Sophie, who was in the nursery at this point). A sweet Mommy/daughter picture. And yes, I made this adorable hairbow.

I'll add the video next time, but too tired to edit/upload it tonight.

Interception

On Saturday, Benoit and I were tossing the ball around outside. Cody was ridiculously excited and wanted to play so bad! He intercepted at some point and was so proud he ran round and round the yard. I think he should have gotten a celebration call, but that's just me.

Here you can see how he grips the ball by the laces.

Pretty Little Things

This weekend, I decided to make a couple of burp cloths for Audrey since we all need pretty little things in our lives. The first one took me a really long time because I kept messing up but the second one I finished in about 45 minutes. That's still really slow, but I'm just learning how to sew again after a 20 year hiatus. I got the idea from a cute blog I follow (http://www.makeandtakes.com). Let's give credit where it's due! Anyway, here are the two burp cloths followed by some pics of the pretty little thing I created them for.

Yes, they need to be ironed, but they are still cute!
A full length version.
My cutie pie!
A little afternoon workout.
Both my pretty little things....Sophie was 'helping' at bathtime.

Days Go By

Man, time is moving fast! Wasn't I just in the hospital with Audrey? No, wait, that's been 3 months already. How did that happen? But what an amazing three months it has been. Audrey is such a sweet, easy-going little girl. She loves to eat, sleep, and 'talk' to her mommy! She also enjoys watching her big sister play and dance. Sophie is great entertainment and gets a kick out of it too. Here are some sweet pics from the last week.

Here is my little 3 month old bundle of joy!

Don't you just want to squeeze her little cheeks! I do!

Here is big sis Sophie reading to Audrey. And yes, I love to dress them alike! This is their hippo and hearts outfit. :)

Making funny faces at me.Audrey always gets lots of hugs and kisses from Sophie!

Playdate with a Purpose

Thank you to my friend Sara who started the Playdate with a Purpose (PWAP) idea in Atlanta. I borrowed her concept to share with my MOM Group. Today, we held our first PWAP at my house entitled Support the Soldiers. The kids colored patriotic pictures and moms donated tons of goodies for the unit of soldiers we selected. Our unit is largely from Texas and contains about half women. They are currently stationed in Afghanistan and are scheduled to leave next summer.

I am so proud of the amazing women in my group! We collected a ton of goodies including: 12 books, 33 magazines, 6 tuna packs, 2 popcorn packs, 2 boxes of mints, 2 boxes of cereal, 3 drink flavoring packs, 2 pretzel packs, 25 Ghirardelli chocolates, 1 bag coffee, 1 set chocolate coffee spoons, 2 deodorants, 6 toothpastes, 2 toothbrushes, 1 mouthwash, 4 soaps, 2 tampon boxes, 3 razors, 1 set of stationary, 3 kids birthday cards, 2 kids sunglasses, and 5 kids toys. We'll also send the drawings from our kids and a note of thanks to the men and women in our unit. Way to go you awesome MOM Group moms!!!

Here are a few pictures from the playdate today. You can tell we have fun when we get together!

Preschool Daze

Sophie just finished her third day of preschool and seems to be enjoying it. She has talked about her teachers several times over the weekend, so I'm guessing she's having fun. There are two teachers and seven children, so the ratio is really good. That certainly makes me feel better about sending her off to school two days a week. The first couple of days, she was a little nervous going in the room and cried a bit. But today, Benoit took her to class and said she did not cry, but just looked a little timid. I think she's doing a great job and I'm sure it will help her be more independent and more comfortable with new people.
Her school days include craft time (usually coloring activities), two playground outings, movement (dance) or music (singing songs), chapel once a week, lunch, and naptime. Today, her teachers said she had a great time and was very playful with the other kids. So proud of her! There are a few pictures of her first day below.
Audrey and I have been staying busy with doctor and dentist appointments, gym workouts, and outings to Target or the grocery store. I never realized how easy it was with one child, especially an infant until now. I suppose you never know how good you've got it until you don't have it anymore, right! I've still got it good, but not as easy. :) I'm ready for all these appointments to slow down so I can focus on spending quality personal time with Audrey while Sophie is in school. I am able to play with Audrey more frequently and pay more attention to her already and am certainly enjoying that. I don't want to miss special moments with Audrey because I'm chasing Sophie. It's going to be difficult to balance my time and attention between the two girls, not to mention my sweet hubby and hyper dog! But like the amazing women before me, I'll find a way.
As promised, here are the pics of Sophie's first preschool day!

Need a Nap

Last night was one of THOSE nights. You know, the ones where sleep is some far away fantasy that's completely unattainable. Sophie crashed after a long, busy day of preschool and I was looking forward to a good night to help recover from the sore throat I've got. Audrey has started going to bed around 9 or 10pm and then waking around 3am to eat and then not again until about 7 or 8am. So if I get in bed around 10pm, I get a pretty decent night considering we have a 3 month old (today!) in the house. But not last night....

Sophie woke for the first time at around midnight. Then again at 12:20am. Then again at 12:42am. Then again, and again, and again. Off and on every 10-20 minutes until about 3am. That's when Audrey woke up to be fed and, thankfully, Sophie slept through that. Audrey pooped twice after I fed her, which means a new diaper and a new chance to wake her up after each diaper change. I finally got in the bed around 3:45am. But then Audrey woke up around 5:30am ready to eat again, which is pretty rare. And then Sophie was ready to get up at 6:15am. All in all, I think I slept for about 2.5 hours consecutively and about 4 hours cumulatively last night. Of course, Benoit was in Houston for all the drama enjoying a night in a quiet hotel room.

Hurry up naptime.
